Das Banjo, insbesondere das Tenorbanjo, spielte in den 1920-iger Jahren eine wichtige Rolle im Jazz und ist für mich die rhythmische Seele des Dixieland. Auch in Deutschland gab es seit Mitte der 1950iger Jahre etliche Firmen, die Banjos herstellten und vertrieben. Bekannte Hersteller waren z.B. Framus, Höfner und Klira.

Im „BANJOPLACE Rodenbach“ befasse ich mich mit der Optimierung und dem An- und Verkauf von gebrauchten Saiteninstrumenten, insbesondere von Vintage Banjos und Gitarren.

FRAMUS Banjo Uke, model 6/180, vintage 1962, Ser. Nr. 38953 F62  (made in Germany in june 1962),  rare model, soprano ukulele with 7 inch pot, completely restored and set up with a new natural skin (calf skin by Stern Tanning/JD Balch),  Scale ca. 34,7 cm, tension hoop with four screws (mounted at the rim  side), rim coated with sparkling red celluloid, black wooden resonator, can be removed for open-back conversion.  Ready for playing , set up with new Aquila New Nylgut strings (tuning G‘ – C – E – A ), nice and loud vintage sound. FRAMUS Tenor Banjo, Texan series, Type No 13200, Ser no. 35045 73F, made in june 1973. This banjo is in very good condition, very narrow neck in plywood with natural finish, rosewood fretboard, 19 frets (plus zero fret), metal archtop tone ring, ornamented Ni plated metal flanges, wooden resonator, new REMO head  (bottom coated, size 11 1/8 inch), new bridge, tension ring with 18 brackets and alumium hooks, set up in tenor tuning with new strings (C G D A, size 32-24-13-10), but also very suitable for Irish music. High end FRAMUS Tenor banjo from the late Nashville N-Line, Type No 13002N, vintage ca. 1977. Natural finish, solid maple neck, archtop metal tone ring, 24 hooks and nuts. Rosewood fingerboard with inlays, head stock with inlay, resonator back without eagle-logo. Original planet tuners, double coordinator rod system. Good to very good condition, frets show some playwear, glue line at the headstock is visible, small crack on the rim was professionally repaired by a banjo luthier. Head with FRAMUS-Nashville logo, new Grover bridge (1/2 inch) and new strings in tenor tuning (CGDA, strings 10-12-24-32). Clean and loud sound. Comes with older hard shell case. 749 EUR. FRAMUS Guitar Banjo, vintage TEXAN model, ser. nr. 21111 74E (made in West Germany in may 1974).  The banjo is cleaned and refurbished and in very good condition. It is all original except for the new black REMO head (11 1/8 inches, ebony),  a different bridge (1/2 inch height) and new strings (size 010 – 046). Heavy metal tonering with archtop design. Rosewood fretboard with 19 frets, very low fretwear. Ni-plated metal flanges („wedding cake design“), dark brown wooden resonator. FRAMUS Stratotone tailpiece to adjust string pressure.  Set up in guitar tuning (string size 010 – 046), low action, ready for playing. Crisp and clear banjo sound due to the metal tonering.
